DETROIT – A man was arrested for allegedly groping a young girl and trying to assault another person on a plane heading to Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Saturday.

Khoa Nguyen was on a Delta flight heading from Tokyo, Japan, to Detroit on July 5, 2025, when, at one point, he allegedly groped a young girl’s buttocks.

Court documents state that the victim is a girl under 18 years old.

The young girl told FBI agents that she was stuck behind a drink cart while returning from the lavatory when she felt a man come behind her and grope her through her clothing.

She tried to press forward, but every step she took, Nguyen would reportedly press up against her, crowding her against the drink cart. The girl said another person told her Nguyen had been following her through the plane.

A witness who sat next to the young girl on the flight provided a statement to the FBI, claiming they saw the girl returning from the lavatory when she had to wait for a flight attendant to pass out food and drinks.

While she was waiting, the witness reported that a man in his 30s, wearing a hat, came up and stood very close behind the girl. The witness said the man had already walked past his seat to approach the girl and that he had been acting odd the entire flight, including dropping items, roaming around, asking weird questions to the attendants and appearing impaired.

According to court documents, the flight crew reported that Nguyen tried to assault another passenger during the flight. The crew restrained him with a zip tie and escorted him until the flight landed at Detroit Metro Airport.

Nguyen faces a federal charge of sexual contact of another person without consent while in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.
