DEARBORN, Mich. – A suspect has been released from police custody after the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office determined that a fatal shooting in Dearborn was in the defense of another person.

The shooting happened at about 11 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at a home in the 1700 block of Walnut Street. Police say that one person was shot by another family member during a domestic dispute.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and remained in custody until being released on Monday, July 14.

They were released after the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office determined that charges wouldn’t be filed, “citing insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was not acting in defense of another,” according to police.
