ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Royal Oak is moving forward with plans to fix its troubled parking system.
The city commission approved a new agreement with “Flowbird” and “Parkmobile” on Monday (July 14), replacing a camera-based system that led to thousands of incorrect tickets.
The plan calls for 150 new pay stations, both on and off street, similar to Detroit’s system, with a mobile pay option.
“The result will be a customer-focused, sustainable, and forward-thinking parking system that better serves the Royal Oak community as a whole. We are very proud of this parking agreement to present to you. It is definitely 180 degrees different. It is completely in the city’s favor and comes with our highest recommendation,” said a member on the panel
The city’s current contract ends at the end of the year, 15 months earlier than planned.
