Watch: Children of murdered Eastpointe McDonald’s manager release balloons in her memory

Balloons released in honor of Jennifer Harris

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Family, friends, and community members gathered Monday to honor the woman who was killed in a stabbing at a McDonald’s in Eastpointe.

The vigil and balloon release were held at the McDonald’s located at 17921 E. 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe, where the stabbing had happened.

Jennifer Harris, 39, was a manager at that McDonald’s, and an employee who she had sent home from work is accused of stabbing her to death.

During the vigil, several people spoke, including Antonia Griffin, Harris’ daughter, and Yusef Alcodray, the owner of the McDonald’s location.

“I don’t even want to be here no more,” Griffin said. “I want to be with my mama.”

After they spoke, balloons were released to honor Harris.

Afeni Badu Muhammad, 26, of Eastpointe, was charged with first-degree murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and being a habitual offender, second offense.

She was arraigned, and her bond was set at $25 million. Muhammad is expected to appear in court again for a probable cause conference on July 23 and a preliminary examination on July 30.
