MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – Police have arrested a teen boy who fled following a high-speed chase in Monroe County.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (July 22) at 9:19 p.m. when Monroe County Deputy Jacob Llewellyn attempted to stop the driver for a violation on North Telegraph Road near Newport Road.

Officials said the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed westbound on Newport Road.
Police said they pursued the vehicle, circling the area of Grafton Road, Newport Road, and North Stony Creek Road.
Officials said they lost sight of the vehicle in the curves of Grafton Road.
During the pursuit, police said the 19-year-old driver’s vehicle sustained damage when it left the roadway.
Officials said several vehicle parts were collected as evidence.
Several hours later, while canvassing the area, police said they were able to locate the teen’s vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 300 block of Kingsbrook Drive in Kimberly Estates.
Officials stated that the damage found on the vehicle matched the recovered parts that were lost during the pursuit.
Police made contact at the residence where the 19-year-old boy from Newport was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
The teen was arrested by police and lodged at the Monroe County Jail for fleeing and eluding.
Police said the suspect’s name was being withheld pending formal arraignment in the 1st District Court in Monroe.
The case remains under investigation by Llewellyn.
