DETROIT – Two people are dead and two others are injured after a shooting at a gas station on Detroit’s west side early Monday morning, police said.

The shooting happened at a Marathon gas station on Puritan Avenue and Fairfield Street near the Lodge and Livernois on July 28, 2025.

When officers arrived, they found one man fatally shot. The man was in his 30s, according to police.

Three women were also injured in the shooting, and on Monday afternoon, police said one of the women died from her injuries.

The suspect initially fled the scene, but on Tuesday, July 29, Detroit police said a person of interest was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
