Events promote community-police partnerships

Macomb County neighborhoods are getting ready to celebrate National Night Out next month – an event that brings community members and public safety together to promote deterring crime and neighborhood unity.

Roseville Neighborhood Watch will hold its event Aug. 5, 4-8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.

There will be organizations at the event offering information for people dealing with addiction or mental health issues and can connect them with available resources.

Roseville police and fire will also be on hand to speak with residents and answer questions. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office will also be there and is expected to have information about avoiding scams, reporting hate crimes, and personal safety.

Raffle items and food for the event were donated by Target, Meijer, Walmart and National Coney Island.

Sterling Heights

The Sterling Heights Police Department is holding its annual National Night Out event on Aug. 4, 5:30 – 8 p.m. outside police headquarters.

The event will include interactive displays from various Sterling Heights police units, a fire truck, a tow truck, emergency vehicles, and a range of activities for all ages.

Mission BBQ will offer samples, and Target will grill and serve hot dogs with chips and drinks. Target will also donate items for a raffle and several community organizations will be on hand to offer resources and information to residents.
