Traverse City Walmart stabbing latest: Suspect charged with terrorism, victims recovering

The suspect accused of stabbing 11 people in a random attack at a Walmart in Traverse City on Saturday has been charged.

The attack happened on July 26 at around 5 p.m. The motive is still unclear, according to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office.

11 people were injured and taken to Munson Medical Center. All are expected to survive, according to medical officials.

The suspect is expected to appear in court as soon as July 28.

Woman dies after being struck by vehicle while holding 1-year-old child in Oakland County

A man was arrested Sunday evening after running over a woman while she was holding her child at a parking lot of an Oakland County restaurant.

Michigan State Police troopers responded to the parking lot at Alex’s Market & Grill in Holly Township on July 27 at around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a person being hit by a vehicle.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a 29-year-old woman from Warren face down on the ground, unresponsive. Police said she died at the scene.

3 seriously injured in Oakland County boat explosion, officials say

Two teens and an adult were seriously injured in a boat explosion in Oakland County on Sunday, officials said.

The boat explosion happened at about 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, on Pontiac Lake, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Weather: Heat advisory in effect for all of SE Michigan -- What to know

A 4Warn Weather Alert has been issued for today due to another round of oppressive heat and humidity. A heat advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today for all of Southeastern Michigan. Highs will be in the low 90s with heat indices near 100 degrees. Mostly sunny today, but with the heat and humidity, you can’t rule out an isolated pop-up.
