DETROIT – The man accused of attacking a Wayne State University student in her apartment has been charged.
The assault took place on July 19 at around 11 p.m. at the Anthony Wayne Drive apartments, located in the heart of the campus.

A student let an unknown man into her apartment after he claimed his toilet was clogged and he needed to use the bathroom.
Police said the suspect, who allegedly indicated he had a knife, lured the victim into the bathroom and threatened to sexually assault her.
During a struggle, the victim was reportedly choked and beaten.
Despite the violence, the woman was able to de-escalate the situation, causing the man to flee the scene.
Joshua Christian Claiborne, a 26-year-old from Detroit, was arrested on July 21 and was charged on July 30 with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. His bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
According to officials, he has no ties to the university.
He is expected to appear in court on Aug. 1 for a probable cause conference.
