Teen girl riding electric bike dies after being hit by car in Port Huron, police say

Driver is cooperating with investigation

PORT HURON, Mich. – A 15-year-old girl died after she was hit by a car while riding an electric bicycle in Port Huron, police said.

At 10:02 p.m. on Monday, July 28, Port Huron officers responded to a crash in the 2800 block of Electric Avenue.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was allegedly traveling in the wrong direction on her e-bike when she was hit by a car.

The 15-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The driver who hit her stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the young girl’s family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss,” said Port Huron Chief of Police Brian Kerrigan. “This is a devastating incident for everyone involved.”

The investigation is ongoing.
