DETROIT – The family of 14-year-old Lawrence “LJ” Trowell is urgently appealing for help to find the missing teen, whose disappearance this week has been described by his family as bizarre and out of character.
Lawrence Trowell, a student at Cass Tech, was last seen late Wednesday night around midnight at his family home in Detroit’s North End neighborhood.
“My youngest son said he came back on the porch, and he went back and forth one or two times and bent down and just disappeared off the porch,” the teen’s father explained.
His parents emphasized that LJ is a good kid who has never run away or been in trouble. They said there were no problems at home, and his personal belongings were left behind.
“He’s not a bad kid,” his sister Lauren Trowell said. “This is, like, so out of his character to up and disappear out of nowhere. I just want him to be ok.”
The family has been in contact with Detroit police and is actively canvassing the area with the help of supporters. Search parties have been canvassing various neighborhoods, including the East Side, West Side, and Highland Park. LJ’s grandmother expressed gratitude for the community support.
“We’ve been putting out flyers. We’ve been riding around the neighborhood. East side. West side. Highland Park. We’ve been riding around. We’ve had a lot of help,” said Talease Harshaw.
Lawrence was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red writing, black Adidas joggers, and black flip-flops. Surveillance footage showed headlights from a white or silver car outside their home around the time LJ went missing.
His mother’s emotional plea reflects the family’s heartache.
“Come home. Please. Just come home. Call me. Text me. Anything. I don’t care. Just come home,” Aisha Williams said.
A reward is being offered for any information leading to Lawrence’s return. The family urges anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact Detroit Police immediately.
This is a developing story, and the community remains hopeful for a safe return of Lawrence “LJ” Trowell.
Anyone who has seen Lawrence Trowell or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department at 313-596-1340 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
