WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A Detroit man was sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison in connection with a series of armed robberies, shootings and sexual assaults.

During a three-month stretch in 2023, United States Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr. said Deandre Martece Williams victimized 15 people in eight separate incidents, four of those victims were seriously injured and three were raped at gunpoint.

According to Gorgon’s Office, Williams would find his victims in parked cars along neighborhood streets. He typically walked to the victim’s car, pointed his gun through an open window or door and robbed his victims. During the robberies, he shot several of the victims as they tried to get away. He also raped two of his victims during these robberies.

On Oct. 20, 2023, authorities executed a federal search warrant at Williams’ house, arrested him and found the gun used in the robberies.

Officials said his arrest also led to DNA evidence linking him to a rape and adult kidnapping. Williams and the victim agreed to meet over a dating app. When the two met at a hotel, Williams pulled out a handgun and held the victim at gunpoint for several hours while he repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim.

Additionally, Williams was linked to an unsolved criminal sexual conduct case from 2012 in Wayne County. He pleaded guilty to those offenses and was sentenced in March 2025 to 10 to 20 years in prison.

He was sentenced to 327 months, or just over 27 years, in prison for the charges of felon in possession of a firearm and kidnapping in connection with the armed robberies, shootings and sexual assaults.

During the sentencing hearing on July 31, 2025, United States District Judge Mark A. Goldsmith said Williams’ “utter disregard for human dignity is breathtaking in the worst sense of the word” and his actions were “nightmarish.”’

“We should all hate robbery and cruelty. And this sinister man did plenty of both. For years, he was prowling around our streets. But through ingenuity and hard work, the ATF and DPD made our city safer,” said Gorgon.
