Car, woman pulled from Lake St. Clair by Grosse Pointe Farms officials

Woman taken to hospital

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. – A car and a woman were pulled from Lake St. Clair by Grosse Pointe Farms officials on Monday.

Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety officers were called to Lake Shore and Newberry roads at around 8:20 a.m. Monday for a car in the water.

Officers said they found a small Kia with its front end submerged in Lake St. Clair and its rear resting on the retaining wall at a 45-degree angle.

The car was empty, but as officers were preparing to enter the water, they said they found a woman face-down about 50 yards west of the crash and about 30 feet from the shoreline due to the current.

Officers went into the water and rescued the woman, turning her face up and returning to shore.

The woman wasn’t breathing and had no pulse, so officers said they used life-saving measures.

After about one minute of CPR, the woman slowly regained consciousness, according to authorities. Medics took over when they arrived.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for more treatment due to injuries from the crash.

The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety thanked the people who acted quickly and called 911, saying their actions were critical to saving the woman.
