Dearborn man accused of kidnapping 7-year-old daughter captured in Pennsylvania

Father faces kidnapping, terroristic threat charges

MILLCREEK, Penn. – A Dearborn man accused of kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter has been taken into custody.

Police arrested 39-year-old Jafar Almaarej Wednesday, Aug. 6, just days after issuing an urgent search for him and his black Jeep Wrangler.

The little girl has been reunited with her mother.

Almaarej now faces multiple charges, including kidnapping and making terroristic threats. He was wanted for allegedly kidnapping his biological daughter from his ex-wife’s house in Millcreek, Pennsylvania, on Sunday.

Police said Almaarej was spotted in Pittsburgh Wednesday morning, about two hours south of Millcreek. U.S. Marshals followed him back to Millcreek, where he turned himself in.

“That’s the important thing, that the girl was safe,” said Millcreek Police Chief Carter Mook. “This situation could’ve been much worse.”
