Nearly 450 pounds of cocaine seized at Blue Water Bridge

Officers uncover seven large bags during inspection

434 pounds of suspected cocaine were seized by authorities at the Blue Water Bridge. (WDIV)

POINT EDWARD, Ontario – Authorities have stopped nearly 450 pounds of cocaine from entering Canada from Port Huron.

According to authorities, officers with the Canada Border Services Agency were inspecting a commercial truck when they found seven bags packed with what they believed to be cocaine in the trailer.

The total weight of the bricks was 197 kg, roughly 434 pounds. Authorities estimate the street value of the drugs to be nearly $25 million.

Onkar Kalsi, a 29-year-old man from Ontario, was arrested and has since been charged with importing cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
