DETROIT – Hey Hey Hockeytown -- look what’s back!
As part of their big Centennial celebration, the Detroit Red Wings are bringing back the iconic “Hockeytown” design as the center ice logo for the 2025-26 season at Little Caesars Arena.
Fans had the final say in a multi-week vote, and “Hey Hey Hockeytown” came out on top -- over 20,000 votes poured in during the first 72 hours alone.
“The center ice fan vote, launched in partnership with Meijer, was a great way to get fans involved in Red Wings Centennial right from the start,” said Asia Gholston, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing for Ilitch Sports + Entertainment. “Through an incredible response to this vote, fans have made it clear they’re fired up for what’s to come in celebrating 100 years of Hockeytown, which is only possible due to their unwavering support for the Winged Wheel.”
This fresh new logo mixes a redrawn version of the classic 1934 Winged Wheel with a modern “100” to mark 100 years of Red Wings hockey.
It’s paired with the famous “Hockeytown” wordmark from 1996, a nod to the city and fans who’ve made Detroit one of the NHL’s most legendary hockey towns.
The Red Wings had the “Hockeytown” logo at center ice until 2018.
After their first season at Little Caesars Arena, they decided to switch things up and went back to a more classic center ice look.
The Red Wings have not announced whether the wordmark will remain alongside the team’s logo beyond the centennial season.
