Metro Detroit skilled trade job fair leads to success

Success stories highlight job fair’s impact

Metro Detroit’s skilled trade industry is gaining momentum, thanks to local job fairs that connect eager job seekers with employers ready to hire.

One recent success story comes from Chris Borowy, who attended a trade-up job fair in Southfield a few months ago. At the time, Chris didn’t have a full-time job or a clear career path. He walked into the event hoping for an opportunity — and walked out with a future.

Chris now spends his days delivering essential materials to construction sites across metro Detroit. He was hired by Contractors Pipe & Supply, a third-generation family-owned company based in Farmington Hills since 1964. Chris started as a warehouse delivery driver and has since gained valuable skills, built confidence, and secured a stable full-time job.

Contractors Pipe & Supply says they are always looking for reliable people, and job fairs like this one help them find the right fit.

From a handshake at a job fair to a job he’s proud of, Chris’s story shows that showing up can change everything.
