DETROIT – Detroit police are searching for the person who fired shots during a gathering in the city’s east side Monday evening.
It happened just before 8 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the area of Moffat Avenue and Seneca Street. One person was killed and two others were injured in the shooting after a family was gathering for a repast following a funeral.
Police are looking for a burgundy Chrysler 300 with a possible flat tire. Shots were reportedly fired from the car.
A man in his 30s died from his injuries, and two women in their 20s were rushed to a local hospital.
Detroit police Deputy Chief Arnold Williams said the number of shots fired is still being determined.
Investigators found numerous shell casings at the scene, with estimates possibly reaching around 100 rounds.

Police said the shooting appeared to be unprovoked, with the suspects driving up and firing into the gathering.
Shell casings were found in three locations: an alley west of the park, the street in front of the park, and the rear corner east of the park.
Williams said it is still early in the investigation, and police are seeking witnesses.
