Former Detroit officer accused of assault, domestic violence while in uniform

DETROIT – A former Detroit police officer is facing charges after reportedly beating a woman outside a nursing home.

The 26-year-old woman and the former officer reportedly have children together.

According to authorities, 31-year-old Justice Calvin followed the woman in January to the parking lot of a nursing home on Schaefer Highway. There, he allegedly exited his car in full uniform, pointed a gun at the woman, forcibly removed her from her car and beat her.

Calvin turned himself in to the Detroit Police Department’s 2nd Precinct on Tuesday, Aug. 19. He has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny from a person, domestic violence and felony firearm.

His bond was set at $50,000.
