WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A woman was injured after she was shot by someone in a passing car on I-96 on Tuesday.
The woman told Michigan State Police she was driving on I-96 between Joy Road and W Chicago Avenue on Aug. 19 just after 12 a.m. when an unknown car approached her car from behind in the left lane and someone fired multiple shots.

The unknown car then sped away. The woman pulled over to the left shoulder of the freeway, partially blocking the left lane.
She then ran from her car to a McDonald’s on Grand River, where she called police. She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.
I-96 between Joy Road and W Chicago Avenue was closed off to traffic while state police searched for evidence.
