Detroit Lions DT D.J. Reader honors father by giving students strong start to school year

The foundation also established resource rooms in several cities, providing essential items

DETROITDetroit Lions defensive tackle D.J. Reader and his foundation, “A Son Never Forgets,” brought back-to-school support to Detroit Edison Public School Academy.

Students and families received free dental and health screenings, along with backpacks and school supplies.

Reader created the foundation in honor of his late father to help underserved communities, providing resource rooms stocked with school essentials and awarding scholarships across multiple cities.

“It means a lot. I feel like, the community, they support us a lot, so it’s always good to be able to give back to the community, come out, put some smiles on people’s faces, I know, you know dental screening’s a super important thing so I think that’s huge, but, I think it’s just important to support the people who support you, you know?”

The foundation has also established resource rooms in several cities, providing essential items such as school supplies, clothing, and hygiene products, and has awarded scholarships to deserving students.
