OXFORD, Mich. – Two of the families of students who were killed in the Oxford High School shooting have accepted settlements offered by the district.
The attorneys for the families of Madisyn Baldwin and Justin Shilling confirmed that they have accepted $500,000 settlements offered by Oxford Community Schools.
The families of Hana St. Juliana and Tate Myre have not accepted the settlement.
An attorney for the school district said the settlements were agreed to months ago, but Thursday’s filings were the next and final step. He said this is a reasonable resolution of a disputed claim.
Baldwin, Shilling, St. Juliana, and Myre were murdered and seven other people were injured when a student opened fire in the Nov. 30, 2021, school shooting.
The teenage shooter was sentenced in December 2023 to life in prison without the chance of parole after pleading guilty to 24 charges, including first-degree murder and terrorism.
His parents, Jennifer and James Crumbley, received 10-15 years in prison after separate trials.
