INKSTER, Mich. – Anthony Hasley, 41, was shot and killed while riding his bike in broad daylight in Inkster.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (Aug. 20) at 3:56 p.m. in the 3100 block of Hickory Street, not far from Michigan Avenue.
When police arrived, Hasley, also known as Slim, was already dead.
His family is now calling for answers and justice.
Rose Marie, Hasley’s mother, expressed her heartbreak.
“Y’all took my son. That’s not right. That’s not right at all, y’all. It’s wrong,” Marie said.
Lynette Bailey, a close friend of Hasley, described him as a good man and father.
“He was a good man. He was a good father, a good cousin, and a good brother. He never gave anybody no hard times. He would give you the shirt off his back,” said Bailey.
The shooting left a void not only in Hasley’s family and friends but also in the neighborhood where the tragedy unfolded.
Marie said the loss was especially painful because it happened close to where she lives.
“This don’t make no sense. If you got a beef with someone, guns is not the best thing to do,” Marie said.
Investigators are carefully examining evidence related to the bike Hasley was riding when he was shot multiple times.
Neighbors who witnessed the shooting were shaken and traumatized by watching Hasley die in front of them.
One person said, “It was unfortunate, and it shouldn’t have happened to my brother in broad daylight.”
The community is pleading for the shooter to turn themselves in or for anyone with information to come forward.
“Got ring cameras or anything? Please, please, please, please turn it in. Cause this will help my family out, really, please,” a family member urged.
“Come forward now. Don’t wait,” another added.
Police continue to search for the person responsible for Hasley’s death as the community seeks justice and healing.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Inkster Police Department at 313-563-9850 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
