2 arrested in string of Metro Detroit car radio thefts

Nearly 90 screens stolen from Ram trucks since February

2 people have been arrested for a string of car radio thefts across Oakland and Macomb counties. (WDIV)

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – Two people have been taken into custody after several vehicles were broken into and had their radios stolen.

According to authorities, nearly 90 infotainment screens have been stolen from Ram trucks in Macomb County since February. Some victims reported their screens were stolen more than once from the same vehicle.

On Thursday, Aug. 21, detectives spotted two people actively breaking into vehicles. With help from the Detroit Police Department and Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, they took the suspects into custody.

Both suspects, a 23-year-old man from Detroit and a 26-year-old man from Roseville, were turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for the alleged thefts.

The investigation is ongoing. Charges are expected from Macomb and Oakland counties.
