Remains of Jacob Angeles found, police say

ROCKWOOD, Mich. – The remains of the man who went missing after the Michigan Renaissance Festival have been found, police said.

Jacob Angeles disappears

Jacob Angeles, 22, of Rockwood, went missing over the weekend after attending the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly. He was last seen around 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, with his mother when they took a photo together at the festival.

Oakland County deputies said Angeles and his mother drove separate cars to the festival.

When Angeles didn’t show up for work the next morning, the search began. Oakland County deputies used drones, a helicopter, and dogs to sdearch the area near the Renaissance Festival grounds on Dixie Highway.

Security cameras captured an image of Angeles’ Jeep leaving the festival grounds, and it was tracked to a location at I-75 and I-675 in the Saginaw area later in the day.

Police said they tried to ping Angeles’ phone every 15 minutes, but it was off. Over the days following his disappearance, thousands of people joined online groups dedicated to locating Angeles.

Remains found

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said Angeles’ remains were found around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area of Crawford County.

He was found by deputies from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating, but foul play is not suspected.

An autopsy is planned for Friday or Saturday so officials can determine the official cause of death.

Police said they don’t know how Angeles’ body got to the wooded area. Someone called Crawford County deputies Thursday to report a Jeep Commander in a remote area, which led to the discovery.

Anyone with information about the case should call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950.
