DETROIT – A man died in a house fire on Detroit’s west side on Tuesday morning, officials said.
The fire broke out at around 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 at a home in the 4000 block of Clippert Street, near Michigan Avenue and Livernois.
Firefighters responded to the home in under four minutes after receiving the call, according to Detroit Fire Department Chief 5 Donald Woods.
Once inside, they found a man dead in a bedroom on the first floor of the home, which is where the fire had started. He is believed to be the homeowner and the only person who lived at the house.
One dog also died in the house fire, and another dog was revived. The dog that survived is with the Michigan Humane Society, according to Woods.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This wasn’t the only deadly fire that happened in Detroit on Tuesday morning.
A fire also broke out at a house on San Juan Drive. Neighbors helped rescue children from the Detroit fire that claimed their grandmother’s life.
