Stellantis announced Wednesday that it is investing more than $41 million to build a new parts distribution facility in Georgia.

The nearly 422,000-square-foot Mopar Parts Distribution Center will be located in Forsyth, which is about 60 miles south of Atlanta, according to a release from the automaker, which was created in 2021 from the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Peuogot.

The new facility is set to support faster and more efficient service for dealers and customers of the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram, Alfa Romeo and FIAT brands throughout the southeastern areas of the country.

“This facility represents a critical investment in Mopar’s long-term growth strategy and our ability to support the dedicated workforce that drives our success,” said Darren Bradshaw, senior vice president of Mopar North America. “It provides our UAW-represented employees with the tools, technology and environment they need to deliver exceptional service to our dealers and customers while supporting our commitment to efficiency and sustainability.”

It will include a 16,000-square-foot AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system that will use 66 robots to pick parts from bins and transport them to stations, according to the release.

Once the parts get to the stations, employees will prepare them for shipping.

Stellantis said this automated storage and retrieval system will improve “processing speed, accuracy and inventory control while reducing the physical footprint required for storage.” This will also turn over stock more quickly and reduce order wait times.

The new distribution center will be staffed by about 90 UAW workers, according to the automaker.

This comes after Stellantis recently announced that it is investing $388 million to create a Metro Detroit Megahub distribution center.

That facility is set to open in Van Buren Township and will also use the AutoStore system.
