Anthony Joseph Veach (WDIV)

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – The man involved in a Macomb County sexual assault case that began nearly 10 years ago has been sentenced.

Anthony Joseph Veach was sentenced Thursday, Aug. 28, after pleading no contest in July to three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charges stem from assaults on a family member when they were 14 and 15 years old.

The assaults occurred in three different locations: Sterling Heights, Eastpointe and Warren. The case began in 2016 and initially led to Veach being found guilty in 2017 on multiple counts of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Veach appealed his convictions, resulting in the Michigan Supreme Court ordering a new trial.

Monday’s plea agreement dismissed all remaining charges.

Veach was sentenced Thursday, Aug. 28, to 11 to 25 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections, followed by lifetime electronic monitoring and mandatory lifetime registration on the sex offender registry.

Additional sentencing terms prohibit Veach from contacting the victim or their family members during his sentence and parole. He is also required to complete sex offender counseling.
