Utilizing the Life360 application on a family member’s cellphone, it was determined that the 17-year-old girl was at the Detroit Metro Airport.
Police said it was also discovered that the teen had been communicating with a man from Georgia online, and she was planning to meet him at a hotel.
While the Troopers were on the scene, the parents of the teen stated that they received a text message with her flight information, which was set to depart for Atlanta, Georgia, within approximately 45 minutes of receiving the text.
Troopers stated that they immediately contacted the Wayne County Airport Police (WCAP) and requested that they attempt to locate the teen.
WCAP stated that they were able to locate the 17-year-old, who had already boarded the plane.
The 17-year-old girl was removed from the plane and turned over to Troopers to be reunited with her parents.
