EASTPOINTE, Mich. – The worker accused of killing her manager at a McDonald’s in Eastpointe is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday.
Afeni Badu Muhammad, 27, of Eastpointe, who was charged in connection with the death of 39-year-old Jennifer Harris, is set to appear in court in the afternoon on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025.
Harris worked as the manager at the McDonald’s at 17921 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe. She was stabbed to death on July 10 after being involved in an argument with Muhammad, according to police.
The last time Muhammad appeared in court was on July 23 for her probable cause conference.
When she was asked to state her name, she said, “Afeni Badu Muhammad, but I also go by Risen Phoenix.”
During that hearing, her attorney, Joshua Jones, asked for a competency evaluation, but said Muhammad personally objected to that referral.
The probable cause conference was adjourned, and a review hearing was scheduled for today, Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025.
