Redford Township police urge caution after grenade brought to station

Residents advised to report, not transport, potential explosives

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are urging people not to touch explosive devices after a grenade was brought to the Redford Township Police Department.

It happened Wednesday, Sept. 3. As a precaution, the police department, Township Hall, and the 17th District Court were locked down until the bomb squad arrived. Police said the resident brought the grenade to police for disposal.

The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad investigated and found that the grenade was an inert military ordinance.

Police are urging people to not touch things that could be explosives, but to exit the area and call 911.
