St. Clair County sheriff’s office investigates shooting of homeless man in Port Huron Police K-9 tracks scent to nearby forest

PORT HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person responsible for shooting a homeless man.
According to authorities, the man walked into a Port Huron Township business Saturday, Aug. 30, with a gunshot wound to his arm. First responders gave aid and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding before taking him to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens. He is expected to survive.
A police K-9 tracked a scent to a forest near 28th and Oak streets, but no suspect was found.
The victim was unable to describe whoever shot him.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office at 810-987-1727.
