Jones was reportedly a member of a criminal organization responsible for the thefts of hundreds of cars in Southeast Michigan.

Police said the criminal ring targeted new vehicle storage lots, car dealerships, parking lots, and individual residences.

The stolen cars were then sold significantly below market value on the black market to buyers seeking unregistered cars.

The Michigan attorney general’s office said the stolen cars have been linked to other criminal activity.

The group also used countersurveillance to steal vehicles quickly and efficiently, allegedly using violence and ramming security vehicles if confronted.

Jones was sentenced on Aug. 27 to 15 months to 20 years in prison.

According to Attorney General Dana Nessel, 10 other members of the criminal organization were also sentenced in connection with the investigation.
