OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – An 81-year-old Florida man died three days after a two-vehicle crash in Oakland County, officials said.
The crash happened on northbound M-5 at West 14 Mile Road in Commerce Township at 9:21 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025.

The 81-year-old man from Venice, Florida, and his 73-year-old wife were traveling in a 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander. The man was the passenger, and his wife was driving.
The woman made a right turn onto northbound M-5 from 14 Mile Road and entered into the path of a 2023 Acura RDX. The driver of the Acura was identified as a 53-year-old woman from Chicago.
Witnesses told police that the Chicago woman had a green light when the couple’s vehicle moved into her path.
The couple and the Acura driver were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The 81-year-old’s condition worsened, and he died from his injuries on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025.
The conditions of the man’s wife and the other driver were not known at the time of the press release, according to the sheriff’s office.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. In addition, all three people involved were wearing seatbelts.
The crash is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
