MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A teen has died after being struck by a car while he was riding his bicycle Friday morning in Macomb County.
The crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 12 on Armada Ridge Road near True Road in Armada Township.

According to Michigan State Police, a 66-year-old Memphis man was driving his car westbound on Armada Ridge Road and tried to pass another car when he struck a 16-year-old boy from Armada riding his bicycle.
The teen was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police said no other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
Armada Area Schools sent a letter out to families on Friday regarding the teen’s death.
According to the letter, the teen was a sophomore at the high school in the district.
In response, the school implemented a crisis response plan to help students and staff respond to the news.
“If you feel your child is having difficulty and may benefit from additional support, please feel free to contact CARE of SE Michigan at (586) 541-2273,” Armada Area Schools Superintendent Michael Musary said in the letter sent to parents on Friday. “You may also call the Macomb County Crisis Center at (586) 307-9100 or contact your child’s school counselor or myself, so the school can be made aware of your child’s needs. Local mental health professionals also support us and a referral list can be provided. As the entire school community continues to cope with the loss, we will make every effort to help you and your child as you need.”
