Cybersecurity incident shuts down South Lyon Community School District for second day

The district confirmed that portions of its network remained shut down as a result of the incident

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – South Lyon Community School District announced a network outage caused by a security incident that affected some of its systems.

Due to the ongoing situation, all South Lyon Community Schools will also be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, causing schools to be closed on Monday (Sept. 15).

The district confirmed that portions of its network remained shut down as a result of the incident.

Officials stated that they are working closely with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and restore the data.

The district stated that it is working to restore full functionality as quickly as possible, but this may take a few days.
