Nationally, 1 in 4 people who need treatment do not receive it, and in Michigan more than 1.5 million individuals are living with substance use disorder (SUD).

That’s why Priority Health has announced its teaming up with Boulder Care to expand substance use disorder support. Boulder Care is a high-quality value-based telehealth addiction medicine provider.

The new partnership is announced during National Recovery Month, observed every September to raise awareness about addiction, celebrate recovery and promote resources.

“Adding Boulder Care to our robust provider network strengthens our commitment to supporting members facing substance use disorder,” said Dr. Charletta Dennis, medical director of behavioral health at Priority Health in a press release. “By expanding access to specialized virtual care, we are embracing a whole-person approach — addressing not just medical needs, but also the emotional, social and practical aspects of recovery, so we can truly help individuals heal and thrive on their path to recovery.”

Members will have access to 24/7 appointment scheduling and comprehensive support from a care team that includes clinicians, nurses, peer recovery specialists, case managers, care navigators and care advocates. Through the Boulder app, clinicians can prescribe FDA-approved medications and offer care that is compassionate, confidential and personalized to each person’s journey. Support includes peer guidance, social services assistance and care management — all accessible via smartphone.

Boulder Care will be available to Priority Health members starting January 1.
