MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and Oakland County Animal Control are both investigating the death of a dog found in a grease pit in the back of a shopping plaza in Madison Heights.
A search and rescue team pulled the remains from behind the grease pit located in the 29000 block of John R Road.
The circumstances leading to the dog’s death are unclear.
The 100+ pound dog was found and is believed to be a Bull Mastiff.
All we know is that at some point on Friday, the owner of one of the businesses was dumping grease when he noticed the dog’s carcass and called 911.
The only store in the plaza that serves food appears to be Kim Nyung Superfood.
Either way, due to the dog’s 100+ pound build, the search and rescue team had to resort to using winches to remove the heavy remains.
People nearby call it a horrible end for man’s best friend.
“The animal did not deserve it. So, just to hear something that inhumane is just very, it’s a horrible thing to hear that’s going on and that people care that little,” said John Scott, who lives nearby.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Animal Control at 248-858-1070 or the Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950.
