Suspected medical emergency leads to deadly Oakland County crash on Telegraph

Ford Explorer hits multiple vehicles, box truck

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A deadly crash in Bloomfield Township caused northbound Telegraph Road at Long Lake Road to close on Wednesday.

The crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 24.

According to authorities, a Ford Explorer was driving erratically northbound on Telegraph Road, crossing multiple lanes and driving on the median. Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department attempted a traffic stop, but the Ford continued north before hitting multiple vehicles at Long Lake Road and a box truck at Hickory Grove.

The driver of the Ford, a 70-year-old man, died at the scene. Police believe he may have suffered a medical emergency while driving.

No one else was injured in the crash.
