Active pipe bomb found at Upper Peninsula gun range safely defused Robot deployed to neutralize device

KINROSS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Upper Peninsula gun range was briefly closed on Wednesday after a pipe bomb was found.
It happened at a gun range off Gaines Highway in Kinross Township, about 30 miles north of the Mackinac Bridge.
Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to the range just after 10:30 a.m. Sept. 24. The Bomb Squad deployed a robot to confirm the pipe bomb was active.
Police safely rendered the bomb inert at the scene, and the gun range reopened shortly after.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post at 906-632-2217.
