‘Didn’t want him to get any other kids’: 12-year-old victim ‘a hero’ in Macomb County rape case

Police arrested 52-year-old Andrew Logan Williams in connection with the assault in Eastpointe

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A 12-year-old girl who police say was pulled off the sidewalk and raped at the home of a man in Macomb County explained why she came forward to tell her story.

“Because I didn’t want him to get any other kids,” she said.

Police arrested 52-year-old Andrew Logan Williams in connection with the alleged assault in Eastpointe.

It happened on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. -- a day when the girl had no school.

She and her family told police that it happened at Williams’ home on Crescentwood Avenue.

Officers searched the home, but Williams had already fled in his car, they said.

He was arrested 24 hours after the alleged assault on Sept. 23.

Eastpointe police -- along with the Detroit Police Department, New York State Police, and federal marshals -- worked together to arrest Williams in New York, about half an hour south of Buffalo.

Police confirmed Williams is a convicted sex offender with a prior offense conviction in Wisconsin.

“It is extremely disturbing -- the fact that we have a young girl that’s walking on the sidewalk and gets approached and then goes through the traumatic experience that she had to go through -- thankfully she was able to leave the house and get to a family member so she could contact us,” Eastpointe Police Chief Corey Haines said.

Police said they recovered other items from the house that could lead to additional investigations, raising the potential for more victims.

Ashley Kolakowski, the neighbor who alerted police, says the young girl is a hero for speaking out.

“I’m happy he’s caught and that little girl is a hero,” she said. “I tell her she’s a hero for this. I know how hard it had to be to go through that, but she spoke up and she did the right thing to get him behind bars.”

There is currently no timeline on the extradition process.
