Macomb County man accused of raping 12-year-old in waives extradition hearing in New York

Convicted sex offender arrested in New York for Michigan case

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A man arrested in New York, accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Eastpointe, has waived his extradition hearing.

52-year-old Andrew Logan Williams was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 23, about half an hour south of Buffalo, New York.

Williams is accused of grabbing the girl off the sidewalk and raping her at his Macomb County home Monday morning.

The girl was able to escape and told a neighbor what happened, who then reported it to the police.

Officers searched the home, but Williams had already reportedly fled in his car.

Police said they recovered other items from the house that could lead to additional investigations, raising the potential for more victims. They confirmed Williams is a convicted sex offender with a prior conviction in Wisconsin.

Authorities are urging parents to be extremely vigilant about their children’s safety.
