Oakland County faces ongoing issues from major water main break

Crews working to fix 42-inch main, boil water advisory in effect

NOVI, Mich. – Parts of southern Oakland County are continuing to experience water service disruptions following the rupture of a 42-inch transmission water main on 14 Mile Road, just west of M-5 and before Novi Road.

A boil water advisory remains in effect for affected areas as repairs continue.

The break caused widespread water pressure loss across Novi and parts of Walled Lake and Wixom, affecting homes, schools, and businesses.

Schools in the affected areas are now reopening for classes.

Providence Hospital has implemented emergency measures, switching to bottled water and restricting tap water usage while maintaining patient care as their top priority.

Henry Ford Columbus Medical Center on 12 Mile Road remains closed due to the water main break.

The city is providing assistance to residents who need non-drinkable water for toilets and drinking water for consumption.

Despite the water service disruption, the Women’s Expo at the Suburban Collection Showplace will proceed as planned.

Organizers have prepared contingency plans, including portable facilities if the water main repairs are not completed in time, and alternative arrangements for concessions.

Residents in affected areas are urged to follow the boil water advisory until further notice from city officials.
