Oakland County restaurants continue to cope with water outage

Thousands of Oakland County residents continue to face water service disruptions following a water main break that happened early Thursday morning.

While the Great Lakes Water Authority has successfully isolated the break, residents are just starting to see improved water pressure.

However, a boil water advisory remains in effect for the city of Walled Lake and parts of Novi.

Residents in those areas were advised to continue boiling water before use.

Businesses, especially restaurants, were feeling the impact of the ongoing water outage.

How feds say self-proclaimed religious leader prepped followers for conflict

Federal officials say a self-proclaimed religious leader prepped his followers to use violence against resistance, evening telling them to “kill on contact.”

He is accused of urging violence against authorities, according to court documents.

David Taylor, 53, and Michelle Brannon, 56, were arrested on Aug. 27, 2025. Taylor was taken into custody in Durham, North Carolina, and Brannon was arrested in Tampa, Florida.

They are accused of victimizing people who worked in call centers in Michigan, Florida, Texas and Missouri, that solicited donations for their organization, Kingdom of God Global Church, which was formerly Joshua Media Ministries International.

Why Oakland County judge says 3 of 4 charges against her should be dismissed

An Oakland County judge who’s accused of misconduct is asking for three of the four charges against her to be dismissed.

The complaint against Oakland County Judge Kirsten Nielsen Hartig was issued by the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission on June 4, 2025.

Hartig has been a judge for the 52-4 District Court in Troy since January 2011.

She is accused of several instances of misconduct in her role as a judge, including failing to submit a report from her psychological exam, making false statements to the commission, mistreating employees, improperly dismissing cases and more.

A motion was filed on behalf of Hartig on Sept. 5, 2025, requesting that the commission dismiss three of the four allegations filed against her.

26 years ago today: The final game at Tiger Stadium in Detroit

It’s been 26 years since the last baseball game at Tiger Stadium.

The final Detroit Tigers home game at Tiger Stadium was hosted on Sept. 27, 1999. The stadium sat vacant on its Corktown lot until 2008.

The historic stadium was known as Briggs Stadium from 1935 until 1961, when it became Tiger Stadium. Many Detroiters called it “The Corner.”

Legendary voice of the Tigers, Ernie Harwell, in the final broadcast, noted the historic run of the Tigers at their iconic home. It hosted 6,873 regular season games, 35 postseason contests and three All-Star Games -- in 1941, 1951 and 1971.

Weather: Sunshine, warm temperatures this weekend in Metro Detroit

After lots of sunshine and warm temperatures to end the week, we are going to keep the trend of dry weather into the forecast, looking through the weekend and then at the start of next week as well.

High pressure has been controlling the forecast for the majority of the week, and it will move off to the east throughout Saturday. We will watch a warm front lift north of the region Saturday afternoon to Saturday evening, bringing a strong southerly flow into the region as well.

This will send high temperatures soaring into the 80s once again by Saturday afternoon.
