Woman in roadway killed by Jeep in Detroit; driver suspected of OWI after staying at scene

DETROIT – A woman was struck and killed by a Jeep while she was in the roadway in Detroit, and the driver who stayed at the scene is suspected of being intoxicated, police said.

The crash happened at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, in the area of Fenkell Avenue and Monte Vista Street on Detroit’s west side.

Police said a woman was in the road when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee. She was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The man driving the Cherokee stayed at the scene, and he was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, according to authorities.
