Authorities believe the driver to be Lake Orion resident Rachele Ricklefs, who allegedly had her 6-year-old child with her at the time. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said she intentionally drove the Jeep into at least 10 people and one police officer. They also said some additional victims have not yet been identified.
She was reportedly stopped in the parking lot of a grocery store on Van Dyke after driving into two people loading their cars.
Ricklef allegedly resisted arrest but was taken into custody.
Earlier that same night, Clawson police reportedly encountered Ricklefs, during which her 12-year-old son escaped from the vehicle before she fled, hitting two police cruisers.
Ricklefs was charged Monday, Sept. 29, with 10 counts of attempted murder, two counts of fleeing and eluding, two counts of malicious destruction of police property, two counts of malicious destruction of personal property, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer.
