All roads reopen following major gas leak on Shiawassee Avenue in Genesee County

Consumers Energy and the Fenton Fire Department were in the area working to fix the issue

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. – All roads have reopened, and residents and businesses can return to their property following a major gas leak on Shiawassee Avenue in Genesee County.

The incident occurred on Friday (Oct. 3) from Leroy Street to Adelaide Street, south to Rockwell, and is closed.

Consumers Energy and the Fenton Fire Department were in the area working on the major gas leak.

Police asked residents not to drive around emergency vehicles or barricades blocking intersections.

Officers were in the area assisting with the evacuation.

There was no need to evacuate outside of that perimeter at that time.
