No injuries reported in shooting on I-696 in Oakland County

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A stretch of I-696 was closed in Oakland County after a shooting Saturday.

It happened just before 5:30 p.m., Oct. 4, in the westbound lanes near Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak.

According to authorities, a driver was in the far left lane when the driver of a white Infiniti in the center lane pointed a gun out the window and fired two shots at them.

The vehicle was not struck and no injuries were reported.

The freeway was shut down for about an hour while a canine unit swept the area but found no evidence.
