Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said the three men are allegedly responsible for the theft of more than 30 Dodge Ram infotainment centers as well as other auto theft-related crimes across Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
Infotainment centers are parts of the car that act as a central hub for features such as navigation, audio, climate control and phone connectivity that are typically accessed through a central touchscreen.
“After diligent investigation, law enforcement has dismantled a criminal enterprise targeting vehicle infotainment systems. These thefts disrupted the lives of victims and threatened the sense of safety in our community. We are committed not only to holding these individuals accountable but also to sending a clear message. We will not tolerate organized crime, and we will take every action to protect residents from being preyed upon,” said Lucido.
The three men were charged with conducting a criminal enterprise, which is a 20-year felony.
Redd and Smith’s bonds were set at $100,000 each. Woodward’s bond was set at $200,000.
All three are scheduled to return to court on Oct. 21 for a probable cause conference and on Oct. 24 for a preliminary hearing.
