In December, police conducted raids at four purported massage parlors: 111 Healing Studio in St. Clair Shores, AM Healing Studio in Sterling Heights, Magic Health Spa in Detroit, and 8 Star in Detroit. At least seven people were arrested and charged.
“I would like to thank the prosecutors from my department and our law enforcement partners whose dedication was instrumental in securing this conviction and delivering justice for human trafficking survivors,” said Nessel when Piao was convicted. “My office remains committed to combating human trafficking and shutting down the criminal enterprises that perpetuate it.”
Piao pleaded guilty to one count of conducting a criminal enterprise in September and was sentenced on Oct. 7 to 40 months to 20 years in prison.
